Olive — Brand & App Redesign (Client)

Duration – 1-2 Weeks
Collaborated with Dan Alves
Date – November 2025

Brief
A designer partner and I were invited by Olive (Holistic Food Scanner) to propose a brand identity refresh and product redesign. In a 1–2 week sprint, we built a concise system and UX improvements that extend the existing experience and functionality for a 350,000+ user base. This was client work and a redesign proposal—well-received and intended to layer onto their live app, not replace it.
My Role
Secondary Research(competitors), designing UI screens of the onboarding and profile pages. Animating micro-interactions.
Tools Used
Cavalry App, Figma
Challenge
Revamping Olive's mobile app user interface

Approach

what are their needs?

After using Olive's mobile app we found what's working and what's not. There were some inconsistencies and random design elements that didn't particularly have any meaning or purpose. The app did work and it worked well, but what we think they lacked was a consistent clear identity with a visual language that supports it.

Profile Page

Making it more social and creating an emphasis on the scanning history. Also tweaked the information architecture since previously profile was ...

Onboarding

We noticed that the onboarding was way too long and repetitive, on top of having inconsistent design elements but it also had some really good screens that could be impactful for retention or user preferences which are the ones we decided to show the visual language for the onboarding flow.

Research

Competitor analysis

did desktop in-depth research on what kind of services already exist in the food trackerindustry. How do other apps tackle the same design problems?
